Sizing · the Pin
One size, six places.
House of Saya brooches are unisex and one size — designed to pin to anything from a 9oz silk scarf to a stiff blazer collar. Here's what you need to know.
Dimensions
Most pieces are 30–45 mm across — the size of a wine cork, give or take. Larger statement pieces (the Eagle, the Peacock) go up to 55 mm.
Weight ranges from 12 g (smaller flora) to 28 g (the larger fauna). Solid bronze, so heavier than equivalent plate.
The pin
Every brooch ships with a brass-tipped roll-clasp — the pin rotates 180° and locks into a hook. This is the safer of the two common brooch mechanisms (vs. the C-catch). It will not pop open in a sari pleat or a bag strap.
The pin shaft itself is 18 mm long — long enough to go through wool, denim, or a doubled silk pleat. Short enough to disappear behind a single layer.
What it pins to
Easy: blazer lapels, denim, wool scarves, leather bag straps, structured collars, sari pallu, dupatta.
Works with care: silk scarves (pin through a fold, not a single layer), chiffon, organza, fine linen.
Skip: very thin georgette saris (use a safety doubling), knitwear with very loose gauge.
Pinning a sari
Pin through the pleat where the pallu meets the shoulder — two layers thick, never one. Pin from the back of the fabric so the brooch face sits clean.
